18 Mar W.O.W! MURMURING
Murmuring is quarreling with God, and speaking against Him. The murmurer said interpretatively that God had not dealt well with him, and that he hath deserved better from Him. The murmurer had charged God with folly. This is the language, or rather, blasphemy, of a murmuring spirit. The murmurer believes God might have been a better God. The murmurer is a mutineer. Is not rebellion as the sin of God as a witch, a sorcerer, and as one that deals with the devil. This is a sin of the first magnitude. Murmuring often ends in cursing. Our murmuring is the devil’s music-this is that sin which God cannot bear. “Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.” (1 Corinthians 10:10) (Thomas Watson —- Eighteenth Century)
Murmuring is also related to complaining. Jude spoke of false teachers: “These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lust,….” (Jude, vs. 16 (Paul Jackson)
