TAKING THE LORD’S BLESSINGS FOR GRANTED

TAKING THE LORD’S BLESSINGS FOR GRANTED

How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand… (Ps. 139:17-18a). How often do we take the blessings of the Lord for granted? I confess. I do it DAILY! I try to thank Him for the OBVIOUS things such as His love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, longsuffering, faithfulness, care, compassion, His word and the truth of it, the wonderful gift of salvation, the opportunity to come to Him in prayer; for my husband and family; for health and freedom, for our church, pastor and church family; for missionaries, for our military; for material things such as my home, food to eat, clothes to wear, vehicles to get us where we need to go… but there is SO MUCH MORE! He sustains our lives EVERY DAY! He puts air in our lungs and causes our bodies to function, to be able to walk and talk and see and hear (well, some of us); He protects us from things we don’t even realize; He provides fresh water to drink (for most of us). We are able to enjoy advancements in technology so that we have most everything at our fingertips. We enjoy air conditioning and heat at the appropriate times. We enjoy indoor plumbing and hot/cold running water by turning a faucet. We live in a beautiful world that was created by God; the sunshine and rain, trees and flowers, moon and stars… We have churches to worship in and the freedom to do so. We have opportunity after opportunity to share Christ with others. We can read and understand and comprehend many things. We are REPLETE with the blessings of GOD on a DAILY BASIS! There’s just no way to count them… as His word says, “GREAT IS THE SUM OF THEM! If I should count them, they are MORE IN NUMBER THAN THE SAND!” God blesses us in many, many ways. Take time today to think of your blessings, and thank God for them… ALL of them!
